Barn Search

“Barns of Columbia County” is a project to catalog each and every old (pre-1914) barn in Columbia County.  Over 500 barns are included in the catalog now.

Steve Varonka, writer, photographer, publisher and CCH&GS member, is heading up the project.  Many other persons have contributed photos or information to the project, which is currently headed by Bill Baillie.

America’s old craftsman-built barns are fast disappearing.  Each year Columbia County loses about a dozen barns to fire, storms or demolition.  It is important to preserve this legacy for future generations.
