Museum
The Columbia County Historical & Genealogical Society’s free museum exhibits feature rotating subjects focusing on subjects relating to the county’s history, businesses, people, and items. Materials in our collections include photographs, books, and documents, as well as artifacts ranging from Native American objects, to antique clothing, to vintage memorabilia. These exhibits are created by the Society’s volunteers as both independent showcases and collaborations with neighboring organizations. The museum is located on the first-floor of the building past the front desk and sales area, with plans in the future to expand to the second-floor area.
As of August 2025, we are offering free tours of our ‘David Stroup Fountain’ exhibit and our ‘Covered Bridges of Columbia County’ exhibit presented in conjunction with the Columbia-Montour Visitors Bureau. Programs and tours are available Tuesdays through Fridays from 9:00am to 3:00pm by appointment. Please reach out to us at 570-784-1600 or at [email protected] to schedule a tour today.
We are always looking to add new items to our collection, but even more we would love to receive personal donations. If you have questions about donating, please contact the Society at 570-784-1600 or at [email protected]. Items should be a product of- or representation of- Columbia County and its history and be in stable, good condition.
